Herd Finishes Fifth at Ohio Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio - The Marshall University women's track team finished fifth on Saturday at the Ohio Invitational.
Capturing the highest finish for the Thundering Herd was junior Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) who placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.85. Senior Taneshia Becton (Pennsauken, N.J.) added a couple of third place finishes for Marshall in the 100-meter dash (13.37) and the 200-meter dash (26.99). Freshman Terryn Webb (Beckley, W.Va.) finished just behind Becton in the 200 meter with a fourth place run of 13.50.
In the hurdles junior Karmen Collins (Slicklerville, N.J.) placed fifth in the 100-meter event with a time of 16.57 while freshman Roshawna Mongold (Maysville, W.Va.) finished fifth (1:12.14) in the 400-meter event.
On the field side sophomore Teniqua Sutton (Westbury, N.J.) added third place finishes in the long jump (17-04.00, 5.28m) and the triple jump (35-06.50, 10.85m). Brittani Keeney (So., Proctorville, Ohio) had a fourth place finish in the discus with a distance of 112-09 (34.36m).
The Herd finished with 62 points. Winning the Ohio Inviational was Buffalo (175) following the Bulls was Kent State (109) in second, Toledo (103) in third and Ohio (97) finished fourth. Behind the Herd was Malone College (55), Hillsdale College (40), Rio Grande (37), Robert Wesleyan (19), Bluffton (10) and California University of Pa. (1).
Next up for Marshall is the Miami Invitational which takes place April 9 on the campus of Miami University.
