AUSTIN, Texas - Competing against the nation's top athletes, seven members of the Marshall University's women's track team gained valuable experience on Friday at the 78th Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas at Austin.
The 4x100-meter relay team comprised of freshmen Terryn Webb (Beckley, W.Va.) and Teniqua Sutton (Westbury, N.J.) along with seniors Ashli Creal (Chicago, Ill.) and Kristin Herron (Frankfort, Ky.) ran to a time of 48.38 and gave the Thundering Herd a 38th place finish (out of 46). Winning the preliminary event was host team Texas with a time of 44.07.

In individual competition Creal finished 62nd in the 100-meter dash (12.60) while Herron had a 45th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.30). Collins competed in the 100-meter hurdles and finished 49th with a time of 14.77.
"This meet gave our team great experience," Marshall University Head Coach Jeff Small said. "We were able to see some Conference USA teams compete and so that was helpful going into the new conference next year. We were able to size up the competition."
With Fridays events Marshall concluded competition at the Texas Relays. Next up for the Thundering Herd are the SeaRay Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. on April 15-16.
