Garner Places Eighth in Heptathlon at MAC Championships

ATHENS, Ohio - Sophomore Danyell Garner (Logan, W.Va.) finished in eighth place in the heptathlon on the second day of Mid-American Conference Championships.

Garner finished with a total score of 4219. On the second day of heptathlon events she placed ninth in the javelin (88-03.00), long jump (16-01.50) and the 800-meter run (2:33.31).

Teniqua Sutton (Westbury, N.J.) also added a top 10 finish for the Thundering Herd by placing ninth in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet 7.25 inches.

In running events junior Karmen Collins (Slicklerville, N.J.) had a 10th place finish in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 14.71. Senior Ashli Creal (Chicago, Ill.) placed 16th in the 200-meter dash (25.13).

The MAC Championships conclude on Saturday with action getting underway at 10 a.m. with the women's pole vault.
