COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Thundering Herd close out MAC competition this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Mid-American Conference Championships in Columbus. The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,802-yard Medallion Club, a course designed by Jack Nicklaus, Jr.

The ten men's golf-playing MAC schools will participate in the tournament - Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Marshall, Miami, Northern Illinois, Ohio, and Toledo will tee it up this weekend.

The 72-hole event begins with 36 holes on Thursday, followed by 18-hole rounds on Friday and Saturday.

The 2004 MAC Championship was captured by Toledo, and medalist honors went to the Rockets' Brad Heaven, who fired a two-under par, 214 (72-70-72).

Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) leads the Herd contingent into this year's tournament. Warren, who leads Marshall in stroke average this season at 74.77, finished in a tie for sixth place last year (77-70-70=217) and was named to the All-MAC Second Team.

Other Marshall golfers at this year's tournament are Brad Tweel (Huntington, W.Va.), Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.), Brandon Katzeff (Uniontown, Pa.), and Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.).
