Men's Soccer Opens 2005 Campaign Friday vs. Rio Grande

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team begins its 2005 exhibition schedule at 7 p.m. Friday vs. Rio Grande at Sam Hood Field. Admission is free.

The exhibition is the first of three for the Thundering Herd. Marshall travels to Cincinnati Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest and then battles Long Island at 2 p.m. Aug. 28 in Beckley, W.Va.

Head coach Bob Gray's Thundering Herd returns 13 letterwinners and eight starters from the 2004 squad which went 10-7-3 and tied for fourth in its final season in the Mid-American Conference.

Marshall opens the regular season Sept. 1 vs. Temple at the Mountaineer Classic in Morgantown, W.Va. The Herd plays its first Conference USA match Sept. 30 at UCF.
