HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall Volleyball team finished its last scrimmage of the preseason in the annual Green and White Scrimmage Friday night, with the White team taking a 4-0 decision over the Green team.

"A lot of what were doing today had to do with chemistry, and the kind of adjustments we need to make to be ready for the regular season," said head coach Mitch Jacobs, who is entering his fourth season at the helm of Thundering Herd Volleyball. "We've got some positions that are up for grabs, and we wanted to take a look at how we finished a point, a game, and a match. It doesn't matter who starts, but who finishes."

The White team, which consisted of the Herd's more experienced players, won the exhibition match 30-22, 32-30, 30-14, and 30-25. Kelly-Anne Billingy and Amber Sims led the winning squad with 12 kills apiece, with Christin Bimberg and Stephanie Cahill each adding 11 and ten kills apiece, respectively. Billingy, who set a school record for hitting percentage in her freshman season last year, tallied a .556 percentage (12 kills, two errors, 18 attack), while Bimberg led all Thundering Herd hitters with a .733 clip (11-0-15). Senior setter Katie Stein also tallied 57 assists, eight digs, and four assists in the four-game match.

The Green team got solid performances from freshman setter Katherine Poss, who had 34 assists and five kills on the night, and Bimberg, who switched over to the Green team and tallied seven more kills. Senior Nickie Sanlin also had six kills for the Green and five for the White in a solid, all-around scrimmage.

Marshall begins its regular season this Monday at Miami (Ohio) in Oxford. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Millett Hall.
