Herd Track to Compete at Ohio State Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Thundering Herd women's track team travels to Ohio State University to compete in the annual Ohio State Invitational on Saturday. The meet marks the fifth straight year the Herd has competed in the event.

Marshall will look to Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) and LaTrica Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) to continue improving. Jones placed 10th with a distance of 42-4.75" and Blankenship was just .75" behind Jones and finished in 11th at the Kentucky Invitational.

Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) and Tekisha Martin (Michigan City, Ind.) will be racing for the top finish in the 60m dash. At the Kentucky Invitational the two finished just one-thousandth of second apart. Richards and Martin will make up half of the 4x400m relay team.

Two new team members will be running for the first time on Saturday. Sarah Sturgill (Hurricane, W.Va.) will run the 3000m and Carmisa Morris (Greenville, S.C.) will run the 60m, 200m, 60m high hurdles and the 4x400m relay.

Other schools participating in the meet are Ohio State, Cincinnati, Ashland, Malone, Indiana (Pa.), California (Pa.), Ohio, Shawnee State, West Virginia State and Xavier. Three unaffiliated teams are also competing.

The meet is slated to start at noon and conclude at 5:40 p.m.
