ORLANDO, Fla. - The Marshall University women's volleyball team defeated the UCF Golden Knights 3-0 Friday evening.
The Thundering Herd's (14-8, 6-2 C-USA) offense and defense shined in the 30-26, 30-18, 30-15, victory.
"We just played a good match as a team," Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs said.
Chelsea Lazar and Christin Bimberg each recorded four and Uche Ndubisi produced a match-high six against UCF (5-13, 1-6 C-USA).
"We just played really solid defense," Jacobs said. "We played great offense in game one and then we played awesome defense in games two and three. We had a great defensive game and that's what we have to be about."
Offensively for the Herd, the outside hitter combo of Kelly-Anne Billingy and Stephanie Cahill scored in double digit kills. Billingy led all players with 21 kills on 32 attacks for a .531 attack percentage. Cahill's 14 kills and .423 attack percentage were second-highest among all players (minimum of eight attacks).
"It's nice to have everything going well with our outside attack," Jacobs said.
With the win Marshall has claimed four consecutive victories at a combined score of 12-3.
The Herd's next match will be on Sunday against Southern Mississippi at 1 p.m. in Hattiesburg, Miss.
