HUNTINGTON - The Marshall University volleyball team announced the addition of two student-athletes with signed National Letters of Intent on Thursday.
The two signees are setter Elizabeth Fleming of Adams High School in South Bend, Ind. and middle blocker Kelley Bugler of St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park, Kan.
"With these two young ladies we are getting two determined and focused student-athletes that will surely continue the pride of the Marshall University volleyball program," Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs said.
Fleming comes to Marshall after being named one of Indiana's 20 finalists for Wendy's High School Heisman, first team All-Conference and first team academic All-State. She has a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
"In my mind Liz Fleming was one of the 10 best setters in the 2007 class," Jacobs said. "Liz possess the athletic skills and intelligence to provide an immediate impact to the Marshall volleyball team. I have no doubt she will be able to push Katherine Poss and to create a great setting duo."
Bulger, the 6-foot-1-inch middle blocker, is a 2006 Class 5A Kansas State Champion and Missouri-Kansas All-Star for the Greater Kansas City area.
"Kelley will be giving us work ethic similar to Chelsea Lazar," Jacobs said. "Not comparing her to Chelsea, but she reminds me of Chelsea in her desire to be great."
The 2006 Marshall volleyball team will be competing on Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday in its final home match against East Carolina.
