Billingy Named All-American

HUNTINGTON - Marshall Thundering Herd junior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy was named Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday.

The honor became Billingy's third straight time garnering Honorable Mention All-American status. With the honor, she became the first three-time winner of the award in Marshall history.

The 6-foot-3-inch native of Trincity, Trinidad, finished the season ranked as the NCAA's leader in kills per game with 6.61 kills and dominated the category for nine consecutive weeks. Her 2006 total of 668 kills was third in the NCAA in total kills and playing in 21 fewer games than the nation's leader was only 35 kills short.

Along with obtaining Honorable Mention All-American, Billingy's list of credentials for the 2006 season include: Conference USA Player of the Year, C-USA All-Tournament Team, three-time C-USA Player of the Week, NCAA leader in kills per game, Marshall's leader in kills for a single match with 44 and all-time career leader in kills with 1,934.
