LEXINGTON, Ky. - Marshall University Thundering Herd junior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy was named American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region team on Wednesday as announced by the AVCA Office.

Billingy's accomplishment is the first time in Marshall volleyball history that a player has taken an All-Region award three consecutive seasons. Marshall volleyball head coach Mitch Jacobs said the honor was well deserved and earned.

"Kelly is well deserving of this award," he said. "I just hope that this year she will be recognized by the All-American committee as she did lead the nation in kills per game as well as having an incredibly high hitting percentage for an outside hitter. Kelly should make one of the top three All-American teams and not just as and honorable mention. There just aren't 36 players in the country better than Kelly!"

The previous two seasons had led to honorable mention All-American status; however, this season the junior from Trincity, Trinidad, finished as the NCAA's leader in kills with 6.61 kills per game.

During the 2006 season, Billingy racked up numerous individual honors including the Conference USA Player of the Year and C-USA Championship All-Tournament team. She was also named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week three times.
