Marshall's Distance Medley Relay Claims Third at Tiger Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall's distance medley relay team ran to its highest finish of the season, third, at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Clemson University on Saturday. The team, made up by Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.), Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica), Terryn Webb (Beckley, W.Va.) and Marian Brooks (Flat Top, W.Va.), recorded a time of 12:34.48 for the third-place finish.
Hannah Kovarik (Hurricane, W.Va.) also placed highly during the Tiger Invitational. In the 5000m Kovarik placed sixth with a time of 19:03.45. Sarah Sturgill (Hurricane, W.Va.) and Laura Lavery (Alliance, Ohio) ran with Kovarik in the event and finished 17th and 18th, respectively.
Eastman recorded her season best in the one mile run with a time of 5:17.93. She placed ninth in the event. Stephanie Achilles (Deptford, N.J.) earned her best mile time of the indoor season, 5:45.24, for a 32nd place finish.
Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) finished in eighth place with her throw of 41'8" in the shot put. LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) was a close 10th with her throw of 41'5".
In the weight throw Stacie Belzer (Glassboro, N.J.) recorded a new season-best throw of 50'9.25" for 12th place. Her previous season best was 48'11.75".
The Thundering Herd will participate in its last regular season indoor meet on February 18 in the Scarlet and Gray Invitational, hosted by Ohio State.
