Thundering Herd Track at Akron Open Friday and Saturday

HUNTINGTON, W.VA. - Marshall track and field once again takes to the road to run in the Akron Open hosted by Akron University in Akron, Ohio. The meet starts at 5 p.m. on Friday night and will conclude on Saturday.
Marshall will start the meet Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the long jump, the triple jump and the high jump. Jumping for the Thundering Herd are Quinnyana Brown (Amherst, N.Y.) and Danyell Garner (Logan, W.Va.).
Running distance for Marshall will be Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.), Anna Chaney (Huntington, W.Va.), Marian Brooks (Flat Top, W.Va.), Hannah Kovarik (Hurricane, W.Va.), Laura Lavery (Alliance, Ohio) and Sarah Sturgill (Hurricane, W.Va.).
Brittani Burke (Proctorville, Ohio), Stacie Belzer (Glassboro, N.J.), Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.), LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.), Nicole Kyle (Keyser, W.Va.) and Jessica Pissini (Hermitage, Pa.) will all be throwing in various events for Marshall. Each of the throwers had a top 20 finish their last time out at the Ohio State Invitational.
Sprinting in Saturday's events are Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica), Breanna Jones (Columbia, S.C), Tekisha Martin (Michigan City, Ind.), Carmisa Morris (Greenville, S.C) and Terryn Webb (Beckley, W.Va.). Martin finished eighth in the 55m dash and Morris 11th at the Ohio State Invitational.
Twenty-four women's and 25 men's teams will be participating in the meet.
Following the Akron Open the Herd will return home to prepare for their final two regular season meets at Clemson and Ohio State on February 10th and February 18th.
