GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Marshall men's golf team finished 13th out of 17 teams at the Furman Intercollegiate this weekend in Greenville, S.C, with a final three-round total of 909 (296-308-305). Maryland led wire-to-wire and claimed the team title with a total of 867 (289-289-289).
Junior Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) shot a third-round 72 to finish with a 217 (72-73-72), good for a tie for fourth place. Marshall's other finishers were Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.), who finished in a tie for 40th with a 227 (73-77-77), Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.), who ended the tournament at 231 (76-78-77, T-59), Brandon Katzeff (Uniontown, Pa.) who carded a 239 (75-85-79, T-88), and Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.), who fired a three-round total of 244 (78-80-86, T-94). Nathan Kinker played as an individual and ended the tournament with a 230 (75-79-76, T-56).
Maryland's Blaine Pefflex claimed medalist honors with a 206 (70-69-67), six strokes better than second place finisher Matt Cook of Western Carolina.
The Herd returns to action on April 7-8 when Marshall hosts the Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf and Country Club.
