HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Today at the Bobcat Invitational Sikeetha Shepard-Hall (Houston, Texas) earned Marshall's first ever trip to the regional meet for the long jump with a leap of 19-08.25. The jump also earned Shepard-Hall first place in the event and a new season best.

The big news of the day came when Shepard-Hall claimed her regional position in the long jump, but she was not the only Marshall athlete to shine at the meet. In total, two athletes earned first place in their respective events and eight season-best efforts were turned in.

Earning first in the triple jump was Quinnyana Brown (Amherst, N.Y.) with a jump of 36-06.25. This was the only event Brown participated in at the meet.

All of the student-athletes in the shot put turned in season-best marks. LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) was the highest Marshall finisher in second. Her season best thrust of 42-05.50 was just ¾ of an inch better then the third place Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.). Jessica Pissini (Hermitage, Pa.) earned fourth place (40-04) and Nicole Kyle (Keyser, W.Va.) claimed fifth (34-04.75).

Brittani Burke (Proctorville, Ohio) improved on her season best toss of the hammer by one inch shy of 13 feet with a throw of 163-05. Burke finished second in the event. Stacie Belzer (Glassboro, N.J.) came in third place with her season best toss of 155-08. Pissini finished in fourth again with a toss of 144-01. Finishing in sixth and seventh were Kyle and Blankenship with heaves of 128-02 and 119-05. Blankenship's toss of 119-05 ties her current season best.

Kwema Phillander (Siparia, Trinidad) recorded her season best in the javelin with a hurl of 121-06 for third place.

While the Thundering Herd's throwers and jumpers were at Ohio University, the track athletes were representing Marshall at the Sea Ray Relays at Tennessee.

Carmisa Morris (Greenville, S.C.) ran the 100m dash in a time of 12.35 for 44th place. Breanna Jones (Columbia, S.C.) participated in the 400mH, but was unable to finish.

In relay action the 4x200m team of Jones, C.Morris, Katina Morris (Erie, Pa.) and Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) finished with a time of 1:41.96 and 16th place. In the 4x100m relay Jones was replaced with Tekisha Martin (Michigan City, Ind.), the others remained the same, and the team finished in 22nd place with a time of 47.69.

In the 4x400m relay the team of Karmen Collins (Slicklerville, N.J.), Jones, K. Morris and Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.) was just over two seconds away from the season best time of 4:02.50. The team ran to a 32nd place finish with the time of 4:04.29.

The last event the Herd participated in was the shuttle hurdle relay. The team, comprised of Collins, Jones, Martin and Danyell Garner (Logan, W.Va.), finished in eighth with their time of 1:01.49.
