Thundering Herd To Host 37th Annual Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd men's golf team will host 14 other schools Friday and Saturday at the 37th Annual Marshall Invitational, which will take place at the Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington.

Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Marquette, Miami, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Rhode Island, Richmond, William and Mary, and Wright State will all join the Thundering Herd this weekend in the tournament.

Last year's defending champion, Louisville, will not participate in this year's tournament, although the Cardinals posted a tournament-record team score of 837. Blake Sattler of Akron also set the best 54-hole total for an individual at the 2005 Marshall Invitational with a 202.

Marshall, who last won its own tournament title in 1977, will be represented by Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine), Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.), Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.), Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.), and Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.). Brandon Katzeff (Uniontown, Pa.), Andy Foster (Vinton, Va.),Jeremy Graham (Danville, Pa.), and Matt Scytkowski (South Hadley, Mass.) will all compete as individuals for the Thundering Herd. Warren leads the Herd with a 73.54 stroke average in 24 rounds this season.

The first 36-holes of the Marshall Invitational begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., with the final 18 holes beginning on Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
