Oxford, Ohio - The Thundering Herd tennis team picked up a 6-1 win Sunday afternoon in Oxford, Ohio over former Mid-American Conference rival Miami to run its winning streak to four.

The Herd improves to 17-6 on the season with the win as Miami drops to 9-8 overall.

"It was a good match," Marshall head coach John Mercer said. "It was nice to play Miami again. They've always been a good rival and we enjoy playing against them. It was a tough match and should help us as we continue to improve."

Marshall, ranked No. 57 in the nation, has now won 12 in a row over the RedHawks.

To get things started, Marshall swept the doubles point against the RedHawks. The No. 35 ranked tandem of Lynzee Kever and Kellie Schmitt pulled away to pick up an 8-3 win over Linda Jirouskova and Katrina Lomidze. Shannon Brown and Karolina Soor defeated Remy Swain and Maura Trauernicht 8-5 on court two and Jeanne Schwartz and Jessica Keener cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 3 against Victoria Pulido and Christy Scardina.

In singles, the Herd would win in straight sets at Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5.

Kever rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lomidze at No. 1 singles and Schmitt defeated Jirouskova 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2. Schwartz blanked Kelly Douple 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Soor picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win over Swain at No. 5. In the Herd's final victory, Keener would need a tiebreaker for the third set to determine the outcome in her match against Trauernicht. The Herd freshman pulled out a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 win to give the Herd its sixth point.

Miami's only win on the day came from the No. 4 singles spot where Pulido defeated Brown 6-3, 6-4.

The Herd will head to Middle Tennessee to close out the regular season next Saturday before heading to Dallas for the Conference USA Tournament the following week.
