HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall Thundering Herd junior Stephanie Cahill's (Louisville, Ky.) 17 kills helped lead the White team to a 3-0 victory over the Green in the annual Green/White Scrimmage Saturday night in front of more than 200 fans at the Cam Henderson Center.

Freshman Emily Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio) delivered a match high of 21 total kills. Cahill and Sullivan were being set-up by Christin Bimberg (Schwerin, Germany), who had a match-best 40 assists.

For the Green, Kelly-Anne Billingy (Trincity, Trinidad) scored 13 kills, followed by Sullivan with 11. However, White finished with a better hitting percentage than Green, .271 and .118 respectively.

"White hit .271 but that's not going to be good enough," head coach Mitch Jacobs said.

Leading the White in digs was Maggie Arias (Indianapolis, Ind.) with 14, while Cahill was one short with 13. On the Green side, freshman Taylor Strickland (Kenova, W.Va.) had 13 digs and Ali Hansen (Merritt Island, Fla.) contributed 12.

"We are in the ball park with digs, but we still need to get that higher to be where we want to be," Jacobs said.

White's defense was throwing a block party over the Green's hitters, boasting 10 blocks. Leading the way was Chelsea Lazar (Palm Harbor, Fla.) with 3.5 blocks and freshman Kristin Marcum (Arlington, Texas) with two.

"We are doing a lot better on the blocks," Jacobs said. "And we were playing against Kelly-Anne Billingy."

The Herd opens up the regular season on the road at Appalachian State's Broyhill Inn Appalachian Classic Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.
