GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Marshall Thundering Herd volleyball team took its third consecutive win on the season by beating Grambling State 3-0 (30-19, 30-17, 30-20) Friday night.

The Herd was lead by setter Christin Bimberg and Katherine Poss. Both players recorded 14 assists in the victory over Grambling State. Between the two, Poss won the edge in kills with two while Bimberg contributed one.

"Our setters did a nice job for us tonight," Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs said. "Christin played well and so did Katherine after we moved around some people."

In total nine players for Marshall contributed a kill against the Tigers. Stephanie Cahill posted a match-high .375 attack percentage to go along with her eight kills, four aces and three digs.

Jacobs said he wanted to see the team play with some vigor.

"We had a good match," he said. "We wanted to get the energy up."

Leading the Herd in kills was Kelly-Anne Billingy with nine while hitting .316. Billingy ended the match with the second-highest dig total for Marshall with six.

Marshall's Maggie Arias led the match with eight digs. Also on defense for the Herd was Chelsea Lazar, who recorded three blocks.

The Herd will play its final match in the East Carolina Classic on Saturday at 10 a.m.
