HUNTINGTON - Tulane University's Sara Radosevic and her 19 kills were too much for the Marshall Thundering Herd volleyball team Sunday night.
Tulane (6-5, 2-0 C-USA) posted four players with 10 or more kills in the 3-2 (30-09, 22-30, 25-30, 30-21, 15-10) victory over the Herd (10-7, 2-1 C-USA). Leading the Green Wave in attack percentage was Jen Linder with .500 and she also came up with three timely blocks.
Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs said Tulane was well prepared for the match and came to play.
"Although it's a disappoint loss for us I though Tulane played a great match," he said.
The Herd was able to gain wins in game two and three after letting the first slip, but could not finish the Tulane off. Jacobs said he thought his team could muster through to claim the win.
"We were doing things and we thought we could take the match," he said. "But Tulane played great."
Marshall's Kelly-Anne Billingy led all players with seven aces and 30 kills. She was the only Herd player in double figures in kills.
Other match-highs were Chelsea Lazar's five blocks and Christin Bimberg's 46 assists.
Marshall's will begin a two match road swing starting with Tulsa and ending with SMU. Jacobs said the Herd will be ready.
"We are going to be working hard to improve and get ready," he said.
Marshall will play Tulsa on Friday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. EST.
