HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University senior midfielder John Daniele (Columbus, Ohio) was honored with the Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance during the week of Sept. 24-30, commissioner Britton Banowsky announced, Monday.

The weekly award is the first for Daniele who recorded two goals and two assists in three games last week. The Columbus, Ohio native led the Herd to a perfect 3-0, after victories over Ohio Valley, Florida International and Florida Atlantic.

Daniele was credited with two assists against the Fighting Scots as the Herd eased past Ohio Valley, 7-0. Daniele's defensive play contributed to the Herd's shutout win over Florida International in the C-USA opener, 1-0.

Daniele closed out the weekend with two goals in Sunday afternoons 2-1 overtime victory against Florida Atlantic. After receiving a chip-shot from his brother Nick Daniele (Columbus, Ohio), John sent a shot to even the game at one late in the second half.

In the second minute of overtime, Daniele received a header from Osric Flores (Everett, Wash.) that he placed in the back of the net to seal the Herd victory.

Thanks to the play of Daniele, the Herd is 7-3-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in C-USA. They are riding a six-match winning-streak, the longest in school history since the 1982-83 seasons.

SMU's Ben Shuleva received the other Co-Offensive award and South Carolina's freshman goalkeeper, Jimmy Maurer, earned the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week.

The Herd and Daniele return to action after a six-day break, when they travel to Lynchburg, Va., to challenge Liberty, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.
