HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University volleyball team will host the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Friday, Oct. 12 in its second CSTV match of the season. Match-time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center and admission is free.

Marshall enters Friday night's match riding a seven-match win streak and has a 13-7 overall record and is 6-0 in Conference USA. By remaining unblemished in conference play, the Herd has claimed sole possession of the top spot in the C-USA volleyball standings.

UAB enters the match on a five-match winning streak and has won eight of its last nine matches. The Blazers have a 4-2 conference record with wins coming against UTEP, Memphis, UCF and Southern Miss.

In last Friday night's showdown with then top-seeded Tulane, senior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy tallied a match-high 19 kills and finished with five total blocks to help lift the Herd to a 3-0 sweep of the Green Wave. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Cahill contributed with 11 kills and 11 digs, and the Herd served up nine aces and teamed for 14 total blocks including two solo blocks apiece from Billingy, senior middle hitter Uche Ndubisi and junior middle hitter Jalicia Ross. Cahill added a solo block in the win as well.

In Sunday's match against UTEP, the Herd received a match-high 18-kill performance from Billingy and a 17-kill effort from Cahill. The Herd received solid play from senior middle hitter Uche Ndubisi, who tallied 13 kills, while senior libero Maggie Arias tallied 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Marcum added 10 digs and freshman setter Elizabeth Fleming notched 47 assists in the win.

Cahill earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 1-7.

The senior guided Marshall to a sweep over then-league leader Tulane Friday with her first of two double-doubles on the weekend. She recorded 12 kills and had 11 digs against the Green Wave. The senior followed that with 17 kills and 11 digs in a 3-1 win over UTEP Sunday. For the week, she averaged 4.14 kills, 3.14 digs and 4.57 points per game. Cahill also hit .379 (29K-7E-61TA) en route to obtaining the third place spot on Marshall's all-time kills list. Marshall (13-7) is the only team in C-USA with a flawless league record at 6-0.

Cahill, who recently passed Kellie Beckelheimer-Hicks to move into fourth place on the Herd's all-time kills list, needed just two kills entering Sunday's contest with UTEP to become third on the list. Cahill tallied 17 on the day (to go along with 11 digs), as she passed former Herd great, Bridget Repsher who played from 1991-94 and tallied 1,241 over her career. Cahill has amassed 1,256 in her four years so far for the green and white.
