Volleyball's Billingy, Fleming Earn C-USA Honors

IRVING, Texas - Marshall University senior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy and freshman setter Elizabeth Fleming earn Conference USA Player of the Week awards for the week of Oct. 23-29.

"Our team had an outstanding weekend and with great team achievement comes individual recognition," head coach Mitch Jacobs said.

Billingy, who was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, averaged 6.14 kills per game in Marshall's two Conference USA road wins over Rice (3-1) Friday and Houston (3-0) Sunday. The senior outside hitter also hit .358, accounted for 7.71 points, served up eight aces, assisted on six blocks and contributed 18 digs over the seven games played. She tallied a match-high 26 kills against Rice, and a team-high 17 kills at Houston. Billingy ranks second in the league with 5.08 kills per game and sixth in hitting efficiency, with a .333 clip. The Thundering Herd remains on top of the conference standings at 11-1 and 18-8 overall.

Fleming, who garnered C-USA Co-Setter of the Week honors, averaged an impressive 15.5 assists per game, which included 62 helpers in a 3-1 win at Rice Friday and 48 in a sweep of Houston Sunday. The freshman guided the team to a .270 hitting percentage and also contributed with a combined 16 digs over the two matches. This is her third and second consecutive Setter of the Week honor. The Thundering Herd remains on top of the conference standings at 11-1 and 18-8 overall.
