IRVING, Texas - For the third straight year, Marshall University senior defender Jeff Lenix captured Conference USA Second Team honors and was joined by two other men's soccer student-athletes for conference honors, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Lenix was accompanied by senior midfielder John Daniele and his third team honors and freshman Sammy Boateng rounded out the Marshall accolades with a C-USA All-Freshman selection.

Lenix continues to leave a legacy as the most decorated defender during his four years at Marshall. The Westerville, Ohio native completed the 2007 regular season with one goal and two assists. He was named to the Marshall Classic All-Tournament team for his defensive play against Xavier and Western Kentucky. Lenix guided the Thundering Herd to its first regular season winning season since 2003, with an assist during Marshall's season finale victory over Central Florida.

Daniele earned his first conference award after a stellar performance in his final year at Marshall. The Columbus, Ohio native was second on the team in points with four goals and two assists. Daniele earned C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week during the week of Sept. 24-30, for his two goal performance against Xavier. He was also named to the Soccer America Team of the Week.

Freshman Sammy Boateng becomes the second player in school history to garner all-freshman honors. The Accra, Ghana native registered one goal and one assist playing midfield for the Herd. His speed on the right side of the field always made him an offensive threat for the Herd.

The three award winners team up with the rest of the Herd for its C-USA Quarterfinal match against Kentucky, Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 2:30 p.m. The match can be viewed via online streaming, which can be purchased at the Conference USA's website (www.conferenceUSA.com) All-Access section.
