IRVING, Texas - Marshall University junior midfielder Sterling Flunder was named to the Conference USA Second Team, joining teammate Jeff Lenix, the league office announced Tuesday.

Flunder started every game for the Herd this season and has been a dual threat in the Herd's offensive and defensive attacks. Flunder registered two goals this season against Belmont, Sept. 11. His play during the Fairfield Inn Hilltopper Classic earned him a spot on the all-tournament team.

The Bothell, Wash., native becomes the third player to garner a second team honor. Lenix has taken home the accolade the past three years and former forward Karim Boukhemis captured the award in 2005.

The Herd had two other players earn conference awards. Senior John Daniele was named to the third team and freshman Sammy Boateng was listed on the all-freshman list.
