HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University senior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy tallied a match-high 17 kills and hit at a .516 mark to help lift the Herd to a 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-24) sweep of the University of Southern Mississippi in Friday night's Conference USA volleyball match at the Cam Henderson Center.

With the win, Marshall extends its winning streak to six matches and has now won 13 of the last 14 matches and boasts a 19-8 overall record, 12-1 in conference action.

"The story of the match tonight was that we got 17 kills out of four different middles with no hitting errors," head coach Mitch Jacobs said after the win. "Liz was really clicking with them tonight."

In the third frame, the teams fought to 10 tie scores before the game was knotted at 21. From there, Marshall posted a 9-3 run that was capped off by kills from freshman outside hitter Elizabeth Herman and sophomore middle blocker Layne Kehl.

"We went on several scoring runs after scoring 20 points and that made a huge difference for us," Jacobs said of the late game execution throughout the match.

The Herd raced out to an early 17-7 lead and scored 13 of the next 21 points to close out the 30-15 victory.

In the second stanza, Marshall built a 21-16 lead but could get no closer as the Herd used a late 9-4 run to seal the game and extend its lead to 2-0 in the match.

Senior outside hitter Stephanie Cahill registered her 16th double-double of the year posting 10 kills and 15 digs.

Junior middle hitter Jalicia Ross fired nine kills on 14 swings for a hitting percentage of .643 and added three block assists, while senior middle hitter Uche Ndubisi tallied six kills on 11 attempts and recorded a .545 hitting percentage.

Freshman setter Elizabeth Fleming registered her sixth double-double of the season delivering 47 assists and notching 11 digs en route to guiding the team to .368 for the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Marcum tallied seven kills and hit at .417 in a solid performance for the Herd.

The Herd returns to C-USA action Sunday, Nov. 4 when it hosts the University of Central Florida in its final regular season home match of the season. First serve for Senior Day is 1:00 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center.
