Marshall Volleyball Set To Conclude Regular Season Play

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Marshall University volleyball team will travel to Birmingham, Ala. to square off against UAB, Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:00 p.m. The Herd caps off its regular season when it travels to Memphis, Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1:00 p.m.
Marshall enters Friday night's contest with a 20-8 overall record, and is 13-1 in Conference USA action. The Herd is on a seven-match win streak, and has won 14 of its last 15 matches.
Last Sunday's victory over UCF marks the sixth consecutive year that the Herd has reached the 20-plus win mark in a season dating back to the 2002 season.
In last Friday night's 3-0 victory over Southern Miss., junior middle hitter Jalicia Ross tallied nine kills on 14 swings to post a .643 hitting percentage for the match. Senior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy tallied a match-high 17 kills while senior outside hitter Stephanie Cahill registered her 16th double-double of the season notching 10 kills and a match-high 15 digs in the sweep of the Golden Eagles.
Freshman setter Elizabeth Fleming chipped in with 47 assists to help guide the Herd to a .368 clip for the match. During Sunday's contest with UCF, Billingy led Marshall with 14 kills, while Cahill tallied her 10th consecutive double-double, and 17th of the season, to finish with 11 kills and 12 digs. Senior libero Maggie Arias provided the Herd with a team-high 16 digs, while senior middle hitter Uche Ndubisi chimed in with nine kills on 19 attempts and posted a .474 hitting percentage, to round out the seniors, who were honored on Senior Day at the Cam Henderson Center. UAB enters Friday night's showdown on a four-match win streak and has won 13 of its last 14 contests and boasts a 21-7 overall record. The Blazers are 11-3 in C-USA action, and handed the Herd its only conference loss of the season (3-2), Oct. 12 at the Cam Henderson Center. The Blazers, currently in third place in the C-USA standings, handed Tulsa a 3-0 loss last Friday night on a 19-kill performance from Aleksandra Vujovic, who also recorded 17 digs in the match. Setter Nevena Stefanov delivered 52 assists against the Golden Hurricane. UAB capped its sweep of the weekend with a 3-0 victory over SMU that included three players in double-digit kills and digs. Stefanov distributed 42 helpers to help the Blazers to its fourth consecutive victory.
Marshall will host the 2007 Conference USA Championship on Nov. 15 to the 18th at the Cam Henderson Center and ticket prices are as follows:
