LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today that senior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy and freshman setter Elizabeth Fleming were named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region Team, while Fleming was also named Region Freshman of the Year.

Billingy earned the award for the fourth consecutive year, an honor which no other player in Marshall volleyball history has done.

"Being named a four-time All-Region player shows that Kelly has had probably the greatest individual career for a volleyball player at Marshall University and it was a privilege to be a part of it," head coach Mitch Jacobs said of the senior.

Billingy led the team in kills for the fourth straight year with 567, and finished her career at Marshall with a school record 2,481 kills. The senior also tallied a .346 hitting percentage and added 221 digs for the Herd during the 2007 season.

"Following in Kelly's footsteps is Liz Fleming," Jacobs said. "We are very excited to see the level our offense can get to with Fleming's hands on the ball."

Fleming earned both awards in her first season running the offense. She tallied 1,642 assists including an impressive 13.35 assists per game mark which helped lead the Herd to its second Conference USA regular season title in three years. The freshman also contributed 244 digs.

"The greatest thing about these two is that they are the epitome of student-athletes," Jacobs added. Fleming is currently in the prestigious Yeager Program at Marshall, while Billingy was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.

Senior Stephanie Cahill earned All-Region Honorable Mention honors. The outside hitter tallied 436 kills and registered 343 digs to help lead Marshall to the semifinals of the C-USA Championship.

"Steph making All-Region Honorable Mention is a nice finish to her career," Jacobs said. "But in my opinion, she has been the MVP on our floor for all four years."

Fleming garnered four C-USA Player of the Week awards, while Billingy and Cahill each earned two on the season.
