PINEHURST, N.C. - Junior Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.) led the way for Marshall in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, posting a three-round score of 218 (69-75-74), which was good for sixth place in the tournament. The team ended the tournament Tuesday in 14th place out of 18 schools with a team total of 918 (304-309-305).
Indiana University claimed the team title with a final score of 880 (297-293-290), five strokes better than second-place finisher Michigan, who shot an 885 (298-292-295).
Indiana's Jorge Campillo won medalist honors with a final total of 213 (73-67-73). Bill Rankin of Michigan and Colt Knost of SMU finished in second place with a score of 215.
The Herd returns to action this weekend at the Furman Intercollegiate.
