Women's Track Sweeps Hurdles at Eastern Kentucky Open

Richmond, Ky. - Marshall University's Breanna Jones and Rolanda Bruce led the Thundering Herd track team with a sweep of the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles at the Eastern Kentucky Open on Friday in Richmond, Ky.
Jones, a sophomore from Columbia, S.C., won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.64 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.50. Bruce, a freshman from East Orange, N.J., placed second in both events with times of 14.98 seconds and 1:08.25.
Marshall put on a strong showing at the 18-team meet. In addition to the hurdles victories, the Thundering Herd's Angelica Harris finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.93 seconds, just .83 behind first place finisher LaKisha Brooks of Eastern Kentucky. The Herd's 4x100-meter relay team also placed second to EKU with a time of 50.05, just 2.02 seconds off of the lead. Marshall's Marian Brooks placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:45.66 and Emily Bailey finished fourth in the 3,000-meters with a time of 11:02.90.
Marshall will return to action on April 26 and 27 at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
