Smith Earns First Top 10 Finish

Lexington, Ky. - Freshman Kristin Smith (Baltimore, Md.) finished sixth in the high jump during day two of the Kentucky Invitational Saturday. Smith had a jump of five feet and four and a quarter inches.
Senior Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) was the only other member of the Marshall women's track team to notch a top 10 finish on day two. Blankenship finished 10th in the shot put event with a throw of 44 feet and three and a half inches.
On day one, sophomore Andrea Jackson (Sumter, S.C.) finished third place in the triple jump event.
Senior Britani Keeney (Proctorville, Ohio) finished in ninth place in the weight throw event and junior LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) placed 10th right behind her teammate Friday.

The Thundering Herd will have less than a week to prepare for their next meet at the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State. The Niswonger Invitational will begin Friday January 18 and conclude on the Saturday January 19.
