HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University baseball team recently announced the acquisition of left-handed pitcher RL Eisenbach who signed a National Letter of Intent to play in the 2009 season.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 190 lb. prospect from Newark, Ohio joins the Thundering Herd from Grayson County Junior College and will add depth to the Marshall pitching staff next season. Eisenbach will compliment a staff that already has experience competing against some of the best junior college programs in America.
"I believe RL will be a great factor in the success of our program over the next two years," said Thundering Herd pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, Tim Adkins. "He is a versatile lefty who has pitched at a high level with success. I believe that he will compete and push hard in the fall to win a spot in the rotation."
Currently at Grayson County, Eisenbach is 5-0 with two saves and registered a 4.60 ERA in 43 innings pitched. The southpaw struck out eight opponents in two different outings (against Blinn College and Cisco Junior College). In his most recent appearance (April 9), Eisenbach allowed just one walk and one hit in six innings on the hill, and struck out seven batters to increase his season total to 43. He has also held opposing batters to just a .254 overall batting average.
Eisenbach played for Licking County of the Great Lakes Summer League in 2007. During that time, Eisenbach was 1-0 with a 3.44 ERA in 11 appearances on the hill. He struck out 19 batters in 18.1 innings of work, and held opposing batters to just a .185 batting average.
