Women's Track Wins Six Events at EKU Open

RICHMOND, Ky. - Marshall University women's track team raked in six events at Friday's EKU Open. Along with six titles, the Thundering Herd was able to place 17 other students-athletes with top ten finishes.
Just two week removed from setting the school record in the triple jump, senior Teniqua Sutton managed to secure a victory in the long jump with a measurement of 5.95m.
Senior Quinnyana Brown finished third in the long jump behind Sutton, but she did claim first in the triple jump with a distance of 10.80m.
The Herd managed to take two throwing events with junior LaTricia Jones winning the discus event with a throw of 41.21m. Jones also finished third in the shot put (13.11m).
Claiming the other throwing event was junior Kwema Phillander who edged out a win in the javelin throw reaching out to 36.84m.
Other first place finishes freshman Kirstin Smith in the high jump (5-07.00 feet) and Marshall's `A' group in the 4x400 relay (4:01.24).
Women's track will now prepare to compete at the Penn Relays April 24-25.
