Blankenship Places 15th in Shot Put at NCAA Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Rachel Blankenship closed her career as a member of the Marshall University women's track team by placing 15th at the NCAA East Regional hosted by Florida State University.
The Hurricane, W.Va. native's best throw measured 14.44m, which is her second best mark of the 2008 outdoor season. Her personal and season best came at the C-USA championships with a mark of 14.87m.
During her senior year alone, Blankenship set the school indoor shot put record on three separate occasions, the best measuring a mark of 14.51m at the Virginia Tech Challenge and also earning the outdoor record for the throw at C-USA.
Sophomore Andrea Jackson, who also is a dual record holder for the Thundering Herd, finished 20th in the triple jump event with a best of 12.23m.
