Baseball's Gomez Named Freshman All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. - Marshall University's Victor Gomez was named to the Louisville Slugger's Freshmen All-American Team as announced Wednesday.
Gomez was one of six designated hitters throughout the nation to garner the award and one of just seven Conference USA freshmen to secure a spot on the Freshman All-American squad.
The Thundering Herd power hitter earned a spot on the C-USA All-Freshman team and was also a second team All-Conference selection. He batted .358 in his debut campaign with, 11 homers and 47 RBIs, finishing second on the team in all three categories. He also earned C-USA Hitter of the Week honors, April 28 by going 11-for-21 at the plate with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.
