Baseball Concludes Green/White World Series

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University baseball team concluded its annual Green/White World Series, with the Green squad taking six-of-seven games. Pitcher Ian Kadish was named MVP for earning two wins in the series.
The Green team swept a doubleheader by the scores of 6-2 and 6-4, behind the arms of Kadish and Mike Mason. The sixth game was won by Joe Church of the Green team, 4-2, and the White squad won the final game of the series, 8-7, with Kyle Blank earning the victory.
A right-hander, Kadish logged 11 innings on the bump to earn two victories for the Green team. In his two outings, he allowed just two earned runs on four hits for a 1.64 ERA. The MVP posted a 14-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Mason produced two strong outings during the series, earning a pair of victories and totaling 14 strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched. He allowed only two earned runs on five hits on the mound.
Josh Valle had a productive series at the plate, hitting .500 (8-for-16), including four doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Victor Gomez collected six hits in 13 at bats (.462) with a homer and three RBI, while Alfredo Brito laced a series-high 11 hits, including a homer and knocking in four runs.
Other offensive contributors included Thor Meeks and Rhett Stafford. Meeks clubbed eight hits, five for extra bases, in 20 trips to plate. Stafford led the series with three round trippers and went 6-for-18 at the plate.
