Marshall Men's Golf Finishes Ninth At Renaissance Invitational

FT. MYERS, Fla.-The Marshall University men's golf team finished ninth at the Renaissance Invitational Nov. 2 at the Renaissance Golf Course. The Thundering Herd matched its top performance of the Fall with a round three score of 288 to earn an 871 total over the 54-hole tournament. Indiana took home top team honors (280-271-281-832). The ninth place showing was the best for MU during the Fall 2009 season.
Nathan Kerns (Fr., Ironton, Ohio, Ironton H.S.) tied his Fall best with a 69 to finish in a tie for 14th with three other players. Kerns' score of 212 (72-71-69) was four under par. Indiana's Alex Martin was the medalist (69-64-67-200).
Bennett Boyer (RS-Jr., Millersburg, Pa., Millersburg Area H.S.) posted 71 in the final round to card a one under 215 for the tournament (76-69-71). Boyer tied for 23rd with three other players. Bosten Miller (So., Charleston, W. Va., Capital H.S.) and Aaron Boggs (RS-Fr., Madison, W.Va., Scott H.S.) tied for 41st as the duo along with two other players posted a three-round total of 222. Miller shot 77 in the final round while Boggs posted a 71 on Monday.
Dustin Cutlip (RS-Jr., Marlinton, W.Va., Pocahontas County H.S.) placed 64th as he shot 79 during the final round and 240 over the 54-holes.
The Spring season gets underway Mar. 5-7 at the USF Invitational at the Lake Jovita Golf & C.C. in Dade City, Fla.
