Men's Soccer Announces Spring Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team announced its 2009 spring schedule this week which includes nine games and three that will be played in West Virginia.
"With several matches spread throughout the spring, it will expose our players to playing extended minutes," Marshall head coach Bob Gray said. "This bodes well for our future and we look forward to seeing our progress through the end of April."
The Thundering Herd will open up three games in Ohio starting with a March 14 match at Cleveland State. The next two Ohio games are set for Sunday, April 5 with a pair of games against Cincinnati and Rio Grande both to be in Cincinnati.
Men's soccer will then travel to Lexington, Ky. for a doubleheader against Northern Kentucky and IUPUI. Following that the team will travel back to Ohio to play against Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew Wednesday, April 15.
The final three games on the schedule will be played in West Virginia with a set of games Saturday, April 18 against Concord University and Virginia Tech. Both of those contests will be played in Princeton, W.Va.
"The spring season gives our team some great competitions to prepare us for the upcoming fall," Gray added. "It is exciting for our program to get the chance to play against the MLS champions Columbus Crew and expose our players to this type of competition. This unique opportunity is a great experience for our players."
Marshall's annual alumni game, which was postponed in the fall, will wrap up spring soccer with the game set for Sunday, April 26 at Sam Hood Field.
