Women's Track Ends Indoor Season at C-USA

HOUSTON, Texas - The Marshall University women's track team finished up the 2009 indoor season Saturday at the Conference USA Championships hosted by the University of Houston.
Overall, the Thundering Herd finished in 10th place with 20 points. On day one, sophomore Kristin Smith (Baltimore, Md.) won the Pentathlon scoring 10 of those 20 team points. Smith also finished sixth in the high jump event (1.65m).
Junior Andrea Jackson (Sumter, S.C.) placed third in the triple jump even with a leap of 12.28m. Jackson currently owns both indoor and outdoor school records in the triple jump and qualified for NCAA regionals last outdoor season.
Other top ten finishes includes the 4x400 relay team earning ninth place with a time of 3:56.22 and junior Molly Grove (Bunker Hill, W.Va.) took eighth in the weight throw (16.21m).
With the end of the indoor season, Marshall will now turn it's focus to the outdoor season which will kick off March 20-21 at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Miami.
