HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University's scheduled baseball game on Tuesday with Georgetown College has been cancelled. The Thundering Herd returns to action Wednesday, April 29 with a doubleheader at Youngstown State.
Game one of Wednesday's doubleheader is slated for 1:00 p.m. with game two set for approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one. Both games will be seven innings in length.
Marshall took two of three games from the Penguins earlier this season (March 13-15), winning Friday's contest 4-0 before taking game one of a twinbill on Sunday, 15-2. The Herd fell 2-1 in seven innings in game two of the doubleheader. Marshall now leads the all-time series with Youngstown State, 9-5.
Marshall enters Wednesday's action with a 16-25 overall record and will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid.
Third baseman Josh Valle has now hit safely in nine consecutive games and over the past 10 games, the junior has accumulated a .500 average (19-for-38) with five doubles, a triple, a homer and five RBIs.
Valle has upped his average to .340 overall to lead the team. He also leads the club in runs scored (35), and walks (31), and is second on the team in hits with 51.
Following midweek action, Marshall travels to Orlando, Fla. to take on Conference USA foe UCF in a pivotal series. Friday's first-pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET with Saturday set for a 4:00 p.m. start time. The series finale will take place at 11:00 a.m.
