HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University Athletics announced Thursday that the football team's traditional pre-game "Thunder Walk" route has been changed to accommodate more student participation this season.
Approximately two hours prior to kickoff of each of Marshall's home games this season, the Thunder Walk will begin at Hodges Hall off of 18th street on Marshall's campus (2:30 p.m. this Saturday). Marshall's team buses will drop off the team and coaches at that point and the walk will continue down the sidewalk between the two new first-year residence halls and reach 20th Street in front of the new student recreation center. The walk will proceed across 20th Street and continue down the Stadium West Lot sidewalk before turning into the West Lot at the northern most parking entrance.
Students and fans are encouraged to line both sides of the route to cheer the Marshall Football team as they make their way to the stadium for each Marshall home game.
"We made this change in the walk to better accommodate our student body and fans. I hope all of our students show their school spirit and support our football team as it makes its way to the stadium on game day," Marshall Head Coach Mark Snyder said.
In previous years, the walk began in front of the Cam Henderson Center.
