Baseball Hosts Fourth Annual Spring Training Banquet

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University baseball team will hold its fourth-annual Spring Training Banquet at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena on Friday, Feb. 5 from 7-10 p.m., with MU Dugout Club and corporate cocktails starting at 6:30 p.m.
Individual tickets are $40 for current Dugout Club members and $50 for non Dugout Club members. Corporate table sponsor packages, which include the pre-reception with Ron Polk and eight tickets are available for $500.
The event will give fans the opportunity to meet the MU baseball coaches, staff and players to discuss the 2010 season and future plans for the program. The master of ceremonies for the banquet will be Woody Woodrum and various forms of entertainment will provided, including: music by Joe Eddins, special guest speaker Ron Polk and a silent auction.
Legendary college baseball coach Ron Polk is a former head coach at Mississippi St., Georgia and Georgia Southern. In July 2009, Polk was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 1995. Polk retired from Mississippi St. following his 29th season at the school in 2008. He ranks seventh all-time in NCAA career head coaching victories.
Polk concluded his 35-year career as a head coach with a career record of 1,373-700-2 (.662). In his career, which included stints at Georgia Southern (1972-75) and Georgia (2000-01), Polk led his teams to a total of eight College World Series appearances, five SEC championships and 23 Regional appearances.
