HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - With just a week and a half to go in the regular season and the playoff picture beginning to form, the Marshall women's soccer team returns home for its most important matches of the season.

The Thundering Herd is happy to come back to Sam Hood Field, where it has gone 3-1-0 in 2010, for its final three matches of the regular season. The home stand begins against Colorado College (7-5-4, 3-4-1 C-USA) on Friday, Oct. 22, followed by UTEP (10-6-0, 3-5-0 C-USA) on Sunday, Oct. 24 and East Carolina (8-7-1, 3-4-1 C-USA) on Thursday, Oct. 28.

Marshall enters the weekend tied for 10th place in C-USA, with each of its final opponents within three points of the Herd.

"We are still in the race but we have to take care of business," head coach Kevin Long said. "To most likely secure a spot in the conference tournament, we need to get three wins against three teams we've never beaten before. It's a daunting challenge but at the same time we're excited about it and eager to make those strides."

MU went 0-1-1 in its latest contests, tying Rice 0-0 in double-overtime and falling to Houston 2-0. Lexa Hughes (Everett, Wash.) registered 15 saves on the weekend, including an eight-save effort on Sunday, matching her collegiate career-high. Angela DeSumma (Doylestown, Pa.) added five more shots to her season total (40), placing her tied for 10th in C-USA.

The Tigers grabbed key wins against UCF and Southern Miss over the weekend to tie East Carolina for sixth in C-USA. The dynamic duo of Tiffany Brown and Brittney Lyman has combined for 119 shots, 10 goals and seven assists on the season. While goalkeeper Caitlin Hulyo earned her seventh shutout of the year and the 17th of her career.

The Miners have lost five of its last six contests coming into the weekend, with its only win coming verse Southern Miss on Friday night. Katie Dorman and Skye Schultz each notched goals in the win. Sophomore Brittany Kindzierski leads the team with 10 goals on the year, five of which are game-winners.

A Pink Out silent auction is scheduled for Friday night's contest with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. Sunday marks Senior Day with festivities set to precede the 12 p.m. start.

GameTracker will be available for both matches by logging on to the women's soccer schedule.

Both matches this weekend will be broadcasted live on WMUL 88.1 and can be heard online at www.marshall.edu/WMUL on stream one. Friday's coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. and Sunday's coverage will begin at 11:45 a.m.
