SCOUTING THE PIRATES: Marshall faces C-USA East Division leader ECU Saturday and one of the most potent offenses in the conference. The Pirates are averaging 36.8 points and 417.5 yards of offense per game and have done so against an impressive early season schedule that featured three ACC teams. The Pirates are led by junior quarterback Dominique Davis who has thrown for 1,815 yards and 16 touchdowns against nine interceptions and rushed for an additional 92 yards and four touchdowns. His top target is all-conference wideout Dwayne Harris who has 49 catches for 548 yards and five touchdowns (91.3 ypg) this season. Defensively, ECU is led by Dustin Lineback's 55 tackles. The Pirates also have five different players with one interception this season.
Marshall vs. ECU: Marshall trails in the all-time series 8-3 and has suffered back-to-back loses by a combined seven points with a 19-16 overtime loss in Greenville in 2008 and last season's 21-17 setback in Huntington. All-time Marshall is 0-5 in Greenville.
