Track and Field Grabs Second at the Marietta Invitational

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Marshall University women's track and field team grabbed six first-place individual finishes on its way to a second-place overall team finish at the Marietta Invitational on Friday evening.
LaTricia Jones won the weight throw in a landslide with a toss of 57-08.25, three feet clear of second place. Andrea Jackson also took a first place finish as she set a season best mark in the triple jump at 40-00.50 feet.
Other first place finishes include Amber Pierson winning the long jump, Rolanda Bruce in the 400-meter dash, Alecia Daniels in the 55-meter hurdles, and the 4x200 meter team of Jackson, Pierson, Vanessa Jules and Alexis Duvaul.
Other notable performances include Rachel Coaxum earning second in the 55-meter hurdles, and Vanessa Jules and Kristin Smith placing second and third in the high jump.
The Herd track and field team is back in action next weekend at the Akron Invitational.
