Men's Golf Travels to the Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C .-The Marshall University men's golf team travels to Pinehurst, N.C. to compete in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will consist of 15 teams, and takes place at Pinehurst #8 Centennial Golf Course from March 12-14.

Pinehurst #8 welcomes; Ball State, Belmont, Radford, University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Francis Marion, Eastern Kentucky, Marquette, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Old Dominion, Michigan State, Pennsylvania State, Conference USA foe SMU, Virginia Commonwealth and Virginia Tech.

The Thundering Herd roster will include Nathan Kerns (Fr., Ironton, Ohio, Ironton H.S.), Bennett Boyer (So., Millersburg, Pa., Millersburg Area H.S.), Bosten Miller (So., Charleston, W.Va., Capital H.S.), Aaron Boggs (RS-Fr., Madison, W.Va., Scott H.S.), and Carson Schambach (So., Glen Dale, W. Va., John Marshall H.S.). Dustin Cutlip (RS Jr., Marlinton, W.Va., Pocahontas County H.S.) will also travel with MU to participate as an individual in the tournament, marking his first rounds of play in the spring season.

Marshall opened spring play last weekend as it competed in the three-day USF Invitational. The Herd was led by Kerns, who averaged a 74.0 through three rounds of play. Kerns shot a tournament team-low 72 on the final day to finish the tournament at six-over-par.

Opening round of play at Pinehurst #8 will begin with a 9 a.m. tee time on Friday morning. Second round action will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, followed by the final round on Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
