Baseball Slated For Two Mid-Week Games

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University baseball team is set for two mid-week nonconference games, the first at Morehead State on Tuesday (3 p.m.) , followed by hosting Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday (3 p.m.) at the Kennedy Center.
The contest against the MSU Eagles will mark the first of three games the two squads will play this season. MU will look to avenge an early season loss to EKU, after dropping a 10-6 decision on March 31.

MU: Ben Jurevicius, RHP (1-0, 2.35 ERA) at MSU: Quentin Morgan, RHP (2-1, 10.24 ERA)

Marshall (13-17)
The Thundering Herd is coming off its most successful Conference USA weekend, taking two-of-three against the UAB Blazers in Birmingham, Ala. 2B Kirby Pellant accumulated an impressive weekend at the plate in the leadoff spot. The freshman went 7-for-13 (.538 batting average) with three doubles, two triples and five RBI.
SS Kenny Socorro enters the week on a 13-game hit streak, while OF Kurt Lipton is riding a nine-game stretch with at least one hit of his own.
Morehead State (18-17)
The Eagles enter the game against the Herd after losing two-of-three at Eastern Illinois in a Ohio Valley Conference series. J.D. Ashbrook has been an offensive force for MSU, leading the team in batting average (.438), homers (14), total bases (107), stolen bases (11) and slugging percentage (.823).
Eastern Kentucky (17-14)
EKU will battle the Herd for the second time this season, this time in Huntington. The Colonels are led offensively by Jayson Langfels who posts a .415 batting average along with 11 homers and 36 RBI.
