Baseball Hosts Coppin State at Epling Stadium in Beckley

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University baseball team hosts Coppin State in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at Epling Stadium, the home of the West Virginia Miners from the Prospect League, in Beckley, W.Va. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

The Thundering Herd (15-20) is coming off another successful weekend in Conference USA action, taking two-of-three against Southern Miss at Appalachian Power Park. The Herd dropped the first contest 16-7, before taking the final two tilts each by the score of 6-3 to even its league record to 6-6.

Victor Gomez is currently tied with Jason Brooks (2000-01) for the all-time home run record at Marshall with 39. The junior has already set school records for RBI and total bases in a career earlier in the season.

Coppin State from Mid Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) sits at 11-20 overall on the season. The Golden Eagles are led offensively by Harry Williams who enters with a .404 batting average with a team-best 26 RBI.

The twinbill is a tune up for another C-USA series this weekend against UCF at Power Park. Game one is on Friday at 2:05 p.m.
