Marshall Finishes 11th At Conference USA Men's Golf Championships

SORRETO, Fla.--The Marshall University men's golf team recorded the fifth lowest round of the 2010 Spring season, 303, as the Thundering Herd completed round three of the Conference USA Championships at the RedTail Golf Course Wednesday afternoon. MU has recorded a three-day total of 918 (314-301-303). UCF won the tournament (292-288-278-858).
Bosten Miller (So., Charleston, W.Va.) recorded the lowest Marshall score in the tournament as he shot 79 on the final day for a three-day tally of 226. Miller had one birdie and 10 pars in the final round. Miller tied for 32nd in the tournament with four other players (77-70-79-226). Rice's Christopher Brown took home medalist honors (70-69-70-209).
Carson Schambach's (So. Glen Dale, W.Va.) final round featured 15 pars as he recorded a three-over 75. Schmabach tied for 43rd with two other players after scoring 231 (77-79-75) over the 54-holes.
Bennett Boyer (R-Jr., Millersburg, Pa.) had two birdies and 11 pars for a 76 during the final round. Boyer's 232 (81-75-76) for the tournament put him a tie for 46th with two others in the tournament.
Nathan Kerns (Fr., Ironton, Ohio) again lowered his score, this time, shooting a two-over par 74 during the final 18 holes. Kerns had four birdies to go along with eight pars on the day. Kerns' 74 was the lowest Marshall score in the final round. Kerns finished his first C-USA Tournament by scoring 233 (82-77-74) which gave him a tie for 49th with East Carolina's David Watkins.
Aaron Boggs (R-Fr., Madison, W.Va.) carded two birdies and 11 pars for a final round 78. His 54-hole total came in at 238 (79-81-78) which earned him 52nd in the tournament.
