Men's soccer Leaves Longwood University with Two Victories

FARMVILLE, Va. - Matt Butler netted the lone goal in game one against Longwood University and Tom Jackson scored in the second match against William & Mary as the Marshall University men's soccer won a pair of 1-0 contests Saturday afternoon at Longwood University.

Butler tallied the game winner against Longwood to register his first goal of the spring season. The junior central midfielder was an all-C-USA Third Team selection in 2009.

Jackson netted his second goal of the spring season as the Herd recorded its second 1-0 victory of the day, as MU downed the College of William & Mary.

The Thundering Herd is 4-2 in spring play, with one of its losses coming against the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. Next weekend the Herd is in Charleston, W.Va., as MU hosts Slippery Rock University and the University of the Cumberlands.
